Patrick's earliest musical leanings developed into areas more demanding than the current "pop" music of the day. He became interested in authentic American blues and listened in admiration to records by such black and British performers as Muddy Waters, Freddy King, Louis Myers, Howling Wolf, Eric Clapton, Peter Green, and more crucially Robert Johnson, the legendary bluesman from Mississippi who was said to have sold his soul to the devil in exchange for a musical virtuosity that inspired awe-struck envy in his peers...

About Patrick Baricault : Biography

Patrick born in Tours (France)

-1969 June, first public appearance as singer, in St Avertin (near Tours), with among others, two friends on guitar, Pierre-Marie Pailler & Xavier Lavoix. They introduce him to the delights of playing Rock music.

-1969 November, Patrick starts to learn to play guitar, and in december he plays with a band, "Hypothese", for six months. During that period, his new friends introduce him to the British Blues music.

-1970 end, Patrick joins the rock band "Amalgama", but for only one gig, in Montbeliard, supporting, the famous 70's french band, "Ange". 

 -1971 mid, Patrick forms his first own band "No Man's Land", the first line up is : Patrick Baricault (guitar & vocals), Jacky Esteban (bass), Bernard Chèze (drums), Gérard Marteau (guitar) & Patrick Ondet (keyboards). the band play around Tours (37) at some "Pop-Sessions".

-In 1972 beginning, new line-up, without Gérard Marteau, and Erwin Wagner replace Bernard Chèze on drums. April 29th, they play their first gig in Esvres-sur-Indre (37), supporting, David Allen band, "Gong"...

-1972 mid, Patrick plays his first professional gigs with "variety bands" like Les Muchachos, Franck Casas, (until 1976 mid).

At this time, he also meets musicians Jean-Claude Landoni (flutist & singer) & Max Wroblewski (harmonica) and he plays with them in some short-lived rock or blues bands...

 -1974, Patrick and Jean-Claude Landoni, decide to work together, and compose a lot of rock songs, they record some of them, but none were released, moreover the tapes, to date, are lost...

"Gold Rush B. Band "

-1975 end, Patrick decides on set up a new blues rock band, "Gold Rush B. Band", with Michel "Mitch" Pasquier on drums, Jean-Jacques "Yaya" Guerbé (a.k.a. Jean-Jacques Denis) on Bass, and Babeth (Mitch's girlfriend) & Martine (Patrick's girlfriend) on Backing vocals. For some gigs, the bluesman Benoit Blue Boy joins the band.   

But, a few months later, the band splits in april 1976...

"Deep Feeling Blues Band "

-1976 mid, Patrick, attracted to the Chicago blues music sound more and more, forms a blues band, "Deep Feeling Blues Band", with his old friend Pierre-Marie Pailler on 2nd guitar. Max Wroblewski (harmonica & guitar), Didier Fort (drums) and Pierre Egea (bass) join the band.

-In 1977, during the six first months, Deep Feeling plays in many events, but without Pierre-Marie Paillier. He decides to leave the band at the beginning of this year.

In September 26th, Deep Feeling is recorded live during its last gig. In 1978, a part of this recording is released on one face of a double LP produced by "Touraine Artists & Musicians Association"...

-1977 end, a new "Deep Feeling Blues Band" is formed by Patrick (lead guitar & vocal).

Line-up : Richard Villa (lead vocal & guitar), Patrick Baricault (guitar & vocal), Philippe Evrard (harmonica), Jean-Pierre Fabisch (drums), William "Bill" Grenouilleau (bass). They play together in many gigs until 1978 end.

-In the early 80's, Patrick is attracted to contemporany jazz music more and more, and he forms, with guitarist Pierre-Marie Pailler an acoustic guitars duo, "Deux Fois Six". Together, from 1980 to 1982, they play in many places.

-1980 december, moreover Patrick meets, in Martinique (Fort-de-France) at "the international guitar festival", American jazz guitarist Larry Coryell. In 1981, they see each other again on several occasions and in 1982 april, they play on stage together during some concerts perform in France .

-1983 beginning, Patrick makes acquaintance of blues bassist and singer Christian "Greeny" Chatel. They decide to re-form "Deep Feeling Blues Band".

Line-up is : Patrick (lead guitar & lead vocal) & Christian (bass & lead vocal), with drummer Thierry Dupré (Patrick played with him in some jam-sessions during 1982).

The band appears live in many gigs throughout year 1983, and, in june, records two songs for a single. It's released in the fall on the "New Rose" label.

-1984 beginning, Patrick goes on playing with Deep Feeling, but Jean-Pierre Fabisch replaces Thierry Dupré on drums, and in april, it's William "Bill" Grenouilleau's turn to replace Christian Chatel on bass. For some concerts, Patrick, with this new "Deep Feeling blues band", gives support to blues singer & guitarist Patrick Verbeke and singer & pianist Alan Jack except for few dates where Jean-Jacques "Yaya" Guerbé is on bass and Thierry Guignard on drums.    

Moreover, in spring 1984, Patrick enters studio to record,  with Alan Jack as artistic producer, his own songs with a view to releasing his first solo LP... And for the first time in a record Patrick sings in French !!!! Nine songs are recorded, but only two will be released into a single (under the name of "Patrick Cault") on the "Scooter Records" label, but almost two years later, in 1986 november !!!! So, seven songs, to date, stay unreleased...

 -1985, in spring, Patrick begins to rehearsed with a new band ( vidéo ) , which comprises now nine musicians. Line-up : Jean Pierre Fabisch (drums), Bill Grenouilleau (bass), Olivier Rainer & José Larraceleta (guitars), Richard Roquin (harmonica), Bernard Tessier, Babeth Eudes & Maybeline on backing vocals.

Patrick, with this new band, appears live in concerts during june, then takes a three month break before undertaking rehearsals with his band in october. Same line-up as three months previously, except Richard Roquin replaced by Philippe Evrard on harmonica and Hervé Devolder (piano) & Jack Henry (sax) join the band. In november, they play together a warm-up show (in Bretagne), and in the 10th of january 1986, Patrick and his band play their first official live appearance in Tours, and then, continue to tour throughout this year until november 7th 1986...

-1989 beginning, Patrick Baricault decides to form a new band. Line-up : Pierre Ceccaldi (guitar & backing vocals), Carlos Ribeiro (drums), Olivier Dubray (bass), and Isabelle Vallière (backing vocals). 1st appearance live in Tours, June 13th, at "Le Bateau Ivre". On this occasion, Patrick invites some musiciens close to him like guitarists Michel Lelong and Gilles Charrault, or who played with him during these last twenty years like Christian "Greeny" Chatel and Max Wroblewski. And also, among them, a new friend, a drummer and singer from England : Martin Rock.

After this show, Martin & Patrick decide to form a rock band together, and it's called "Martin Rock Band"...

-From 1989 to 2003, Patrick Baricault plays with "Martin Rock Band", and he also takes part in the recording of the first CD of this band: "Random Emotion", released in 1997.

At the same time, from 1990 to 1995, Patrick continues playing with his own band. Same line-up as 1989, except Olivier Dubray replaced by William "Bill" Grenouilleau on bass, and, some musicians like François Benest (piano & backing vocals) or Max Wroblewski (harmonica) are invitated to join the band for a few gigs...

-March 1991, Patrick with this band enter studio to record their 1st CD, "Rock n' roll d'accord". They record nine songs composed by Patrick (Bernard Tessier gives him a hand for some lyrics), and once again he sings in french. This CD is released on 1991, june 21st...

-1999, Patrick decides to re-form "Deep Feeling". Line-up : Patrick Baricault (guitar & vocal), William "Bill" Grenouilleau (bass), Carlos Ribeiro (drums), Babeth Eudes (lead & backing vocals) and Pierre Ceccaldi (guitar & backing vocals), but in 2000, Pierre decides to leave the band, Patrice Gillet (he also plays guitar with Martin Rock Band at that time) replaces him on guitar, (Patrice also plays harmonica with Deep Feeling)....

From 2002, Patrick is now very attracted by Country Music, and in 2003 he decides to form a country band : "C.C.Rider"...

-In 2003 Patrick Baricault decides to form a country band "C.C.Rider" with Jean-Pierre Siret on drums, Joël Guiganton on pedal steel guitar & Pascal Girault on bass, but very quickly Marc-François Vesque replaces him, but in december 2004 Vincent Lardet became the definitive bassist of the band.

And very quickly C.C.Rider became one of the most popular country bands in France...
From 2003 to the end of 2007, Patrick with C.C.Rider played in more over three hundred and twenty country concerts or festivals.

During this four years, two cd are released, "Howdy" in 2004, and "Open Spaces" in 2006. For this cd, Patrick Baricault records his first country song of his own composition : "Gone To Ride"...

 -In 2007, though he is still playing with his country band C.C.Rider, Patrick Baricault, decides to set-up a new country band with two musicians who played with him in the past : William "Bill" Grenouilleau on bass and Carlos Ribeiro on drums. Patrick plans to play in concert with this new band at the beginning of the next year. A name is found for this new band, it'll be called "Range Heroes".

They start to rehearse, and quickly two other musicians join the band, François Vesque (acoustic guitar & backing vocals) and Anne-Sophie Roullin (violon), she has just joined C.C.Rider, but she decides to follow Patrick in his future band. During this year, Patrick and this new band also do some recording sessions in anticipation of a cd release planned for the beginning of the next year. In november and december, Patrick & Range heroes play some warm-up shows and in the 31st of december they play their first official live appearance in Coutras (Gironde) for the New Year'Eve... 

From 2008 to the end of 2009, Patrick with Range Heroes played in more over 150 concerts, and in february 2008  they release their "Here We Go" album, and once again a new Patrick's country song, "Code Of The West", is included in this new cd...

 2008 december 13th, Patrick appears on the Martin Rock Band 20th anniversary performs 8 songs with his ex-band.

At the beginning of year 2009, Patrick plays in recording sessions for "Bab n' blue", the new band of his friend, the singer Bab' Eudes.

In 2010 & 2011, Patrick is on tour with a blues country rock band, "WINKS"

 These last years the guitarists singers Patrick Baricault and Marc-François Vesque crossed the country music roads in particular within the groups "C.C.Rider" and more recently "Range Heroes". Today they unite again their complicity within a new band, "WINKS".

     Alain Chassier (guitar and backing vocals), Anicet Debien or Antoine Ménagé (bass and backing vocals) and Jean-Luc Ploquin (drums ) answered at once present to join this band quite now.

     For concerts to come, they will interpret a repertoire "new look" where we shall find all the musical influences which marked the respective careers of Patrick and Marc-François.

     A big moment around the Country music, Blues and Rock 'n' Roll...
